It was late at night when Byakuya had finished his work for the day. He had been sitting with reports all evening with Chibiusa sitting next to him, coloring. He looked over a final report when he felt a weight fall against him. He looked to his right and saw Chibiusa, leaning against him, asleep.

He put down his work and carefully lifted Chibiusa up and carried back to her arranged sleeping quarters. As he carried her down the hall she murmured sleepily and shifted in his arms. Her arms moved and slipped around him as her head rested on his shoulder. He came to her sleeping mat and rested her down. Her arms stayed firmly around his neck, though she remained asleep. Byakuya said nothing, but gently removed her arms.

"May you sleep well," he said softly before leaving her to her dreams.
