Character
Name: Giselle
Appearance: here & here
Canon: Enchanted
History: Wiki
Canon point: After her first night in New York
Personality:
Giselle comes from a land where fairytales are real, good always triumphs, evil always loses, and True Love is the most powerful thing in the world. Andalasia is a land of the Disney-ideal on steroids. For anyone not living in these circumstances, Giselle can seem like quite the odd duck. Perhaps not as much in a school filled with the Disney characters, but she’s still likely to stand out to some. She’s very friendly, perhaps overly so at times, even to a complete stranger. She has a smile for anyone. Though New York was full of hostile strangers Giselle still smiled for them. For those who are her dear friends, she will do whatever she can for them. She strives to be the best possible person she can be and wants to be friends with everyone and anyone. She doesn’t wish to be a burden for anyone. When it becomes obvious that she is a bother to Robert she volunteers to leave. She’d be glad to sacrifice things to make others happy.
Giselle is incredibly optimistic. Even if someone is the most evil person that ever existed, Giselle would try to find the good in them. She will insist it is there, even if no one else can see it. She wants to believe the best in everyone. Narissa, is disguise of an old woman pushed Giselle down a magic well to New York. Even when Giselle is confronted with her again she believes Narissa’s story that it was all an accident. It takes extreme circumstances for Giselle to understand that someone is not as good as she hopes. In those cases she is incredibly disappointed, like when the homeless man on the streets of New York stole her tiara. With this mind set she often comes off as very naïve. And really, she is. She doesn’t know anything about the “real world”. Her life until now consisted of living in an enchanted forest with her animal friends, living peacefully until she found her True Love and agreed to marry him in an instant. Because she is so sheltered she doesn’t know much about danger and who might pose it. It would be very easy to take advantage of Giselle.
That being said, once out of her element Giselle is quick to adapt. Being ever cheerful she does not let a strange situation keep her down. When Giselle finds herself stranded in New York she does not get depressed. While distressed at first, she vows to take the experience for what it is, and not be afraid. She ends up adapting very well, and she is sure to do the same no matter where she goes. She is a hard worker and quite independent despite her innocence. Given the right tools and a little encouragement Giselle can make a home for herself just about anywhere. She’ll make the best of her time and learn quickly as long as there is someone willing to teach her, and she will be more than willing to teach what she knows in return.
Giselle is also a very emotional person. Everything is right there on her face for the world to see and she’s terrible at hiding how she really feels about things. She is likely to cry at anything that is remotely sad to her. When she learns about what divorce is, she immediately begins to cry. The idea that a marriage could end devastated her. On the opposite end of the scale, it does not take much to make her happy again. As she says “I’m sure a smile would life my spirits oh so much.” However, at this point Giselle has never experienced any darker emotions. Feelings like jealousy and anger are far outside of her scope of emotions. Later in the film Robert and Giselle have an argument and she realizes that she is angry. The experience is obviously surprising and exhilarating as she begins laughing at the realization. Given that she is now outside of Andalasia, her emotions are bound to grow, just like her knowledge. Being at the school with new people and new experiences will force her to grow in ways Giselle cannot yet imagine. These emotions will all be things she might encounter. Similarly, Giselle does not hold back with her feelings and thoughts. She thinks something and says it right away. She doesn’t always realize this might make others feel uncomfortable since she believes it is better to be open and honest.
Powers/Special Abilities: Giselle can communicate with animals. While she can’t understand the specific words of “normal” animals, she can still understand the meaning behind their sounds. She can also summon nearby animals too her with song.
She has an almost super-human ability to sew entire outfits in only an hour or so.
Inventory: Giselle doesn’t have much to her name. She will have her now, very worn wedding gown and one change of clothes which she made before coming to the school.
Greatest Fear:
Giselle does not consciously have any deep seeded fear thanks to her innocent, care-free lifestyle. However, deep down in a place she herself has not yet recognized, Giselle fears being alone more than anything. Her biggest dream is to find her True Love and live happily ever after, so it’s fair to say that the opposite of this, a life alone and without love would be her greatest fear. Love is everything to her. Without it she would be miserable.
How is your character appropriate for this game?
Giselle is adaptable. She certainly doesn’t go looking for conflict, but should conflict arise she will not shy away. When attacked by a troll in the beginning of the film she does not give up without trying to escape the troll’s clutches. Later, with Narissa takes Robert away Giselle stands up to fight her. She may not look like one to stand up and fight but she absolutely is. Once she becomes close to the people around her Giselle will do whatever she can to help them. Giselle’s optimism will also go a long way among the mist. With such a conflict beating down around them, Giselle will be there to keep spirits high. She will strive to see a smile on everyone’s face as they work together.

AU history
Giselle’s history begins the same until she arrives in New York City. After finding herself with Robert and Morgan, an invitation arrived for her at their apartment. Giselle was unsure of what she should do at first. Would going some place else make it more difficult for Prince Edward to find her? She worried about this for a while, but after receiving the kindness of Robert and Morgan she could not rightly burden them. She thought them very kind for letting her spend the night in their home and get some sleep she desperately needed. The next morning she could tell that she would cause trouble for them if she were to stay.
She had faith that Prince Edward would find her no matter where she went, and Giselle thought she could do more at the academy than she could waiting in Robert's apartment. She thanked both very kindly for their help and went on her way. She wasn't quite sure what the invitation was leading her towards, but the idea of teaching was appealing. She felt that she had a lot to share with the students. And perhaps at the academy she would find people who could give her news of Andalasia and how she might return there.
How has it affected them?
This change in history means Giselle has not grown as much as she had over the course of the movie. She is still very innocent and naïve and will need more experiences to help her become a more rounded person. She also will not have realized her feelings for Robert. She will be completely infatuated with Prince Edward, believing he is the one and only True Love for her. On her arrival to the academy she will likely rely on the people around her for a lot of things, but will be eager to learn about sewing. As always she will be optimistic about the state of things and will have complete faith that either Prince Edward will come find her or that she will be returned home to Andalasia. In the meantime she will enjoy her stay and work hard to teach the students what she knows.

Oh my! What a strange little box. They told me other people can see this it I press all of these buttons. I wonder if it’s really true. I can see it now, but how can others if they aren’t here with me? I supposed if it is true, then this must be like a magic mirror. I’ve heard many stories about them them, but I have never actually seen one in person. It’s very exciting to see something so rare! I’m sure that Pip would have loved to see it.
I thought it would be best to introduce myself, so I hope everyone really can see this like they said. Hello everyone! My name is Giselle! I’ll be teaching how to sew and cook while I’m here. I hope that I’ll be able to teach you all everything that I know. I’m sure we’ll have so much fun.

Giselle peered hesitantly out the window. Outside the sun was shining brightly and she could hear the sound of birds not too far away. All things considered, it was a beautiful morning. If she did not know better, for a moment she might have thought she was home in Andalasia. Giselle always tried to remain optimistic, but even she was feeling a little doubtful. Perhaps it was all that talk of the mist. Could something so dark and awful really exist? She had never seen anything like it in Andalasia, though there had been murmurings about it among the animals.
It was then that she dreadfully wished she had her dear friend, Pip, to talk to about everything she had seen. Certainly he would be braver about such a strange place. Pip wasn't afraid of anything! However, thinking of that seemed to give her a new sense of strength to face these new challenges. He would tell her not to let something like this get her down and tell her of all the opportunities she had now.
And of course there was the matter of her True Love, Prince Edward. He would have noticed she was missing by now. And he must know about the mist. Certainly he would want to do something about it, especially if Andalasia was in some kind of danger. He would come and find her, wouldn’t he? No, she mustn’t think like that. Of course Edward was coming to find her. Their Love was powerful enough. It was True Love, and True Love was the most powerful thing in the world. In any world.
She nodded confidently in this fact before letting the window drapery fall shut. With a renewed smile on her face she left her room. Time to greet the morning and everyone else she thought cheerfully. It wouldn’t do her any good to dwell on bad things when there were so many wonderful people to meet and students to teach.
